Investment In Cambodia

Cambodia Investment Guide for Foreign Investors

Cambodia is a diverse country with a rich diversity of landscapes, cultures, and traditions. Many international companies are setting their foot in this beautiful country for their ventures. While Cambodia is fairly easy to reach from Bangkok, it is an expensive destination with a tourist influx. That being said, it remains a viable option for making high-end FDI.

Cambodia has a very strong economy. It is emerging from decades of economic isolation due to military rule. The new government is focusing on attracting more foreign direct investment by luring foreign firms into processing and harvesting timber, as well as increasing the processing of fruits and vegetables. If the government and its people work towards boosting the economy, Cambodia will be able to attract more FDI.

The success of the Phnom Phen hydroelectric project will open doors to further mineral resource investments but is still dependent on final approvals from the provincial and national levels. Phnom Phen is the main center for exports of copper, which offers an excellent opportunity for foreign direct investment. A further huge leap for the cambodia investment Department is the confirmation of the approval for the construction of a USD 10 billion bridge across the River Mekong in the North, with the proceeds going to fund infrastructure projects in Phnom Phen.

Another important development that will have a major effect on Cambodia's economy is the launch of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The SEZ will allow limited duty-free access to Cambodia's main economic zones. This will be a huge boon to private companies trading in duty-free and other Eastern Bloc goods such as electronics, clothing, footwear, and other consumer goods. It will also attract foreign direct investment in the form of duty-free merchandise.
